      Sensors

Norgren’s Mechanical Part Present Switches provide a mechanical interface for part present sensing. A heavy duty actuation arm is bent / shaped by the stamper to contact the panel and transfer clamp motion to a magnetically actuated reed switch.

Nut/thread detectors provide early detection of missing nuts or threads. Weld field resistant circuitry allows the sensor to be used very close to the welding operation for detection of an incorrectly built part early in the assembly process.

Double Blank Detection sensors prevent damage to dies and stamping machinery by detecting multiple blanks during the load sequence. Quality control checks can be performed in-process to verify the presence of multiple components during an assembly sequence.

      Blue-Slice Tool

Norgren Automation Solutions Blue-Slice nesting tooling system provides a completely configurable product tailored specifically to your needs. The Blue-Slice is compatible with existing lower tooling “trees” while providing an increase in productivity.

      Key Features

      • Faster Setup – The operator needs only two trips to the cart per station to move the blue slices to the bar instead of 3-4 trips for old fashion tooling
      • Easier Setup – The slices are held together in order, so the operator can place them where they need to go faster and easier
      • Coded Locations – Each blade is coded so they can’t be placed in the wrong locations.  This will reduce setup time and crashes due to misplaced tooling
      • An End to Lost Tooling – Because all the blades are held together, lost tooling is much less likely, a problem that happens often with current tooling
      • Advanced Ergonomics – The carriers are simple to lift and load as opposed to old fashioned tooling, which could be large and difficult to handle
      • Limited Floor Space? – Because the blades are smaller, a new cart design will be able to hold twice as much tooling, allowing cart usage to be cut in half

      Carbon Fiber Tooling

Slow line speeds, shaking and imprecise part placement are common challenges with steel and aluminum booms, due to their weight and rigidity. And because they can’t be repaired, a “crash” means expensive replacement.

Carbon fiber booms, in contrast, offer stability and precision. They are lightweight but high strength so they accommodate higher line speeds, and because they resist shaking, they place parts precisely, every time. Carbon fiber is also valued in harsh operating environments for temperature stability and chemical resistance.

IMI Precision Engineering- NAS has advanced carbon fiber technology by developing the capability to mold it into complex shapes, such as T-bars, with a variety of loading characteristics to meet user requirements. They can also repair carbon fiber booms, extending equipment life.

      Double Sheet Detection Sensors

Norgren’s Double Blank Detection sensors prevent damage to dies and stamping machinery by detecting multiple blanks during the load sequence. Contact style sensors detect multiple blanks in the destack mechanism allowing early removal or reject sequences. Pass-Thru or pneumatically extended sensors monitor sheet thickness in the magbelt, roller feed or centering station for additional protection throughout the feed process. Quality control checks can be performed in-process to verify the presence of multiple components during an assembly sequence.
